Disc herniation’s are very common injuries often resulting from vehicle/car accident injuries. Spinal decompression is a common treatment that places the patient in an anti-gravity position, which allows for the vertebra to be pulled apart and decompress the disc. Simply stated, the vertebrae are the bones in your spine and the disk is the shock absorber between them. 

The primary goal of disc herniation treatment for each patient is to help relieve pain and other symptoms resulting from the herniated disc. To achieve this goal, each patient’s treatment plan should be individualized based on the source of the pain, the severity of pain and the specific symptoms that the patient exhibits. Typical treatment begins with decompression, but also includes chiropractic manipulation and rehabilitation exercises the help strengthen the supporting muscles around the spine and reduce the chance of re-injury.
